The Workplace Relations Commission found that Shane Dooley, a manager working for the Legal Aid Board, did not engage in prohibited conduct in his dealings with Gerald Mc Guinness. The complaint was not well founded.
In a decision dated 24 March 2023, Mc Guinness alleged discrimination on race, family-status and civil-status grounds, as well as harassment and victimisation. He said Dooley did not acknowledge or answer his complaint about the Legal Aid Board’s service within its customer-care timeframes.
The adjudicator found no facts establishing unequal treatment, harassment or victimisation. Although the Board’s customer-care timeframes had not been met, Mc Guinness did not establish that the delay resulted from a protected ground.
