The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Capita Customer Solutions Limited to pay Juanita Weblin €1,600 net for an unlawful wage deduction and €200 for unpaid annual leave. Both complaints were found well founded in a decision dated 20 April 2023. Weblin worked as a customer care agent and complained that €1,600 net had been deducted from her wages. She also said she had not been paid for annual leave accrued between 1 April and 25 May 2022, when her employment ended. The WRC accepted that the wage deduction was unlawful and that leave for days worked from 19 April to 25 May had gone unpaid. Capita did not attend the hearing. The adjudicator was satisfied that the hearing notice had been served at the company’s correct address and decided the complaints on Weblin’s uncontested evidence.
