The Workplace Relations Commission found Cynthia Carroll’s redundancy complaint well founded and directed Mullingar Arts Centre Company Limited By Guarantee to pay her statutory redundancy entitlements. The decision was dated 7 August 2024. Carroll said she had been laid off during the Covid-19 pandemic and that the respondent failed to answer her request for redundancy payment. The respondent said she had been laid off rather than made redundant and was offered a return to work. The adjudication officer found that Carroll had been laid off for the qualifying period and that the respondent had not issued a counter-notice to her RP9 form. Her continuous service was reckoned from 27 November 1998, with gross weekly pay of €174, subject to her having been in insurable employment during the relevant period.
