The Workplace Relations Commission disallowed Johno Crotty’s redundancy payment appeal because it was brought outside the time limit. The decision was dated 8 March 2023; the merits were not decided. Crotty worked as an IT administrator for Extreme Event Ireland Ltd and was laid off in March 2020. He said the company let him go in June 2020 and claimed a redundancy payment. The company said he resigned after turning down an offer to return on reduced wages. The adjudicator found that his employment ended on 29 June 2020. Crotty referred his claim in April 2022, more than 52 weeks after his employment ended. The adjudicator was not satisfied that reasonable cause justified extending the time limit.
