WRC orders Ellicro Environment Care Limited to pay €2,612.04 in unpaid wages

The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Ellicro Environment Care Limited to pay Luke Drohan €2,612.04 net for six weeks of unpaid wages in a decision dated 14 February 2023. Drohan said he was not paid after his last salary on 31 January 2022 and worked for the company until 14 March 2022. He said he received €500 in cash for expenses, not wages. The respondent was notified of the hearing but did not attend. The WRC found that the company contravened the Payment of Wages Act and that the complaint was well founded. Under the Act, unpaid wages properly due may be treated as an unlawful deduction.
