The Workplace Relations Commission found Stephen Walsh’s Payment of Wages and unfair dismissal complaints against Pat The Baker were not well founded after he did not attend the hearing. The WRC decision was dated 30 January 2023. The decision says three witnesses and a representative attended for the respondent. Walsh had sought an adjournment the day before the hearing and emailed on the morning to say he would not attend. The adjudicator noted that he had received the respondent’s submissions ten months earlier and had been told to attend to seek an adjournment. The WRC found the Payment of Wages complaint not well founded and found that Walsh was not unfairly dismissed, using those words in its decisions after his non-attendance; the merits were not decided.
