The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Michael Quinn €468 after finding that National Deaf Village Sports and Leisure Centre Limited failed to give him written notice when his working hours increased from 25 to 39 a week. The award was equivalent to one week’s pay. The decision, dated 5 January 2023, also found three other complaints not well founded: one under the part-time work rules and two under the fixed-term work rules. Quinn said he was employed permanently, rather than part-time or on fixed-term contracts. The WRC did not expressly state an outcome for his separate disability discrimination complaint, which alleged that work-related stress was connected to his treatment.
