The Workplace Relations Commission found that Dkit Sport Gym did not engage in prohibited conduct when it refused Paul Taaffe entry without a Covid-19 vaccination certificate. The decision, dated 7 March 2023, concerned his claim that the refusal was discrimination on the religion ground under the Equal Status Acts.

Taaffe said his decision not to be vaccinated was connected to his Catholic faith. The gym said it followed public health rules requiring certificates for about seven weeks and offered customers without them a membership freeze or refund. The adjudication officer found that vaccine choice was not itself a protected ground and that Taaffe had not shown people of another or no religion were allowed to attend when he was refused entry.
