The Workplace Relations Commission found that Meditec Medical Limited acted reasonably in dismissing Anthony Woods for gross misconduct, rejecting his unfair dismissal complaint. The decision was dated 7 March 2023.

Woods had worked as a customer services representative and was dismissed in January 2022. The company cited alleged unauthorised use of a company vehicle, interference with its tracking system, dangerous driving and health-and-safety breaches. Woods disputed the allegations and said he had not received full details or all the evidence before the disciplinary hearing. The adjudication officer found that the company formed an honest belief in gross misconduct and carried out a fair investigation. The WRC also rejected Woods’s complaints about notice pay and minimum notice, finding he was not entitled to notice after dismissal for gross misconduct.
