The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found Vanessa Marcal Da Silva’s unpaid wages complaint against XS Direct Insurance Brokers Limited (In receivership) well founded and ordered the company to pay her €9,625. The decision was dated 16 August 2022. Da Silva said the company imposed a 15% pay cut without her agreement from 28 April 2020 until her employment ended on 16 February 2022. She said the shortfall was due to be repaid when her employment ended, but the money was not paid. The WRC found the cut was made without her consent and that no other ground permitted the company to withhold the wages. The Payment of Wages Act prohibits unlawful deductions from wages. The respondent did not attend the hearing.
