The Workplace Relations Commission found Ronald Vos’s complaint against Murrays Spar not well founded. The decision was dated 16 August 2022. Vos said the shop failed to provide reasonable accommodation for his disability when it required him to wear a face covering during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The WRC accepted that Vos had a disability and that the shop knew he had COPD. It noted that he refused a visor offered by the shop and had used its outside service twice. The adjudication officer found that the outside service meant it was not impossible or unduly difficult for Vos to use the shop’s services, and found no failure to provide reasonable accommodation.
The WRC also found no evidence that Vos was victimised for pursuing his rights under the Equal Status Act.
