The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Castle Vets to pay veterinary surgeon Alonso Serrano Laborda €3,275 net in compensation after finding his three Payment of Wages Act complaints well founded. The decision was dated 28 October 2022. Laborda said the claims concerned wage underpayments and deductions, including amounts taken for a changed flight and an alleged mistake at the practice. Castle Vets submitted a written response but presented no evidence at the hearing. The adjudicator found the deductions and underpayments were neither authorised by agreement nor notified to Laborda in advance. The decision identified €500 gross wages for December and January, a further €1,250 net deducted in January, and €1,250 gross for the February two-week period. It says that February payment incorporated holiday pay.
