The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) disallowed Eder De Brito’s appeal under the Redundancy Payments Act 1967 after he did not attend the hearing; the merits were not decided. The decision was dated 10 February 2023. De Brito had emailed the previous evening to say he was unwell and unable to present the facts, but provided no accompanying documents. The adjudicator said he had failed to attend to present his case or seek a postponement, and had made no effort to substantiate his complaint. The respondent, The Cliff Townhouse Unlimited Company The Cliff Townhouse, attended the hearing. The matter concerned a claim under the Redundancy Payments Act 1967.
