The Workplace Relations Commission found a Water and Drainage Inspector’s overtime complaint against South Dublin County Council not well founded in a decision dated 10 February 2023. Thomas Goulding said an agreement entitled him to minimum overtime payments for being on call on weekdays and weekends, and that he had not received all the payments due for June to August 2021. The council said it paid all overtime worked under his contract and a local agreement, and disputed that any minimum on-call arrangement existed. The adjudication officer found no supporting evidence of an agreement to pay overtime for on-call availability and preferred the council’s evidence that Goulding had been paid for all hours due.
