WRC rejects three Greg Victory complaints against ESB Networks

The Workplace Relations Commission found three complaints by ESB Networks Network Technician Greg Victory not well founded, including a claim that a delayed €250 payment was an unlawful deduction. The decision was dated 13 December 2022. Victory’s complaints concerned the MyTime payroll app, introduced to replace paper timesheets. He said delays to overtime and allowance payments followed his refusal to use it. ESB Networks said paper timesheets needed manual processing, which delayed non-base payments. The WRC found that the change involved work practices, not a unilateral change to Victory’s employment terms. It said delayed payments were linked to his refusal to use MyTime, not his membership of the Independent Workers Union, and found no victimisation. It also found the €250 payment had been delayed but that this was not an unlawful deduction. The decision covered complaints under employment information, industrial relations and payment of wages laws.
