WRC rejects three complaints by Esb Networks technician over MyTime app

The Workplace Relations Commission found three complaints by Network Technician Des Summerville against Esb Networks not well-founded, rejecting claims connected to the MyTime payroll app. Adjudication officer Jim Dolan’s decision was dated 13 December 2022. Summerville said delays to overtime and allowance payments followed his refusal to use MyTime and breached his rights. Esb Networks said the app changed work practices, not employment terms, and that manually processing paper timesheets caused delays. The officer found the app changed work practices rather than terms and conditions, and that the payment delays were linked to Summerville’s refusal to use it, not his union membership. He also found the delayed €250 payment did not amount to an unlawful deduction. All three complaints were found not well-founded.
