WRC awards Clive Reid €5,600 in employment complaints

Clive Reid won four complaints against Macprend Limited T/A Hampton Floor Stores, with the Workplace Relations Commission awarding €5,600 for missing details in his written employment terms, €100 for unpaid holiday pay, €4,000 net for unpaid notice pay and €461.54 net for an improper pay deduction. The decision was dated 30 March 2023. Reid said he was dismissed by text message without contractual notice or outstanding holiday pay. He also said his written terms omitted key details and that his pay was not restored after a temporary 50% reduction. The employer did not attend the hearing. The WRC upheld the complaints about written terms, holiday pay, notice pay and the deduction, limiting the holiday and deduction findings to 7 to 11 June 2021. The minimum notice complaint was a duplicate, dealt with under the notice pay complaint.
