The Workplace Relations Commission rejected three complaints by Leanne Murphy against Maybin Support Services (Ireland) Limited, including her claim that she was penalised after raising health and safety concerns at St James’ Hospital. The decision was dated 8 July 2024. Murphy suffered a needle-stick injury while emptying a waste bin in September 2021. She said that after raising concerns she faced excessive supervision and was dismissed for complaining. The adjudicator found no evidence that supervision changed her employment terms and considered the manager’s efforts to arrange meetings inconsistent with dismissal as retaliation. The decision records her employment ended on 14 October, while the employer said her fixed-term contract was due to end on 18 October. The adjudicator also found that Murphy had received a written statement of her employment terms and that the payslips showed the different wage amounts reflected Sunday and public-holiday rates and absences. All three complaints were found not well founded.
