The Workplace Relations Commission awarded statutory redundancy to Vladimir Ivanchuk for service from 5 November 2005 to 15 March 2020, after the hotel and restaurant where he worked closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The award was calculated at the weekly ceiling rate of €600. In a decision dated 13 December 2022, the WRC found that Ivanchuk had made a credible case and had provided records supporting his employment. His former employer, Camrue Catering Ltd, did not attend the hearing and offered no rebuttal evidence. Ivanchuk had worked as a sous-chef and sought statutory redundancy after unsuccessful attempts to contact the employer about reopening.
