The Workplace Relations Commission found Frank Ryan entitled to a redundancy payment and eight weeks’ minimum notice after his work operating a digger for Noel Hughes Plant Hire ended. The decision was dated 16 August 2022. The WRC said the notice entitlement would be included in the redundancy calculation; it did not state a payment figure. Ryan said he had worked for the plant-hire business since 1994 and was told on 6 April 2021 that the digger was being taken off the job. The respondent did not attend the hearing. A separate complaint that Ryan had failed to give notice was not well founded.
