The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Munster Forklift & Training Services Limited to pay Carmel Maher €1,800 for unpaid annual leave after her dismissal. The decision, dated 12 February 2024, also found her dismissal fair and rejected her minimum-notice and terms-of-employment complaints. Maher, a general manager earning €50,000, was dismissed for alleged gross misconduct involving company kerosene, taxis and groceries. She denied wrongdoing and said management had authorised the purchases and services. The WRC assessed whether the dismissal was reasonable and fair, not whether the alleged misconduct occurred. It found 9.3 days of annual leave remained outstanding and awarded compensation for the unpaid entitlement. Maher withdrew her public-holiday complaint.
