WRC finds Cummer Coaches driver was not unfairly dismissed

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Alan Keane was not unfairly dismissed by Cummer Coaches Ltd and rejected his complaint. Keane, a coach driver, was dismissed in October 2020 over abusive text messages sent to a manager. He denied sending them and said his phone may have been hacked. The adjudication officer found it reasonable for the employer to conclude that Keane sent the messages, and that dismissal was proportionate and consistent with company procedures. The decision was dated 14 February 2022.
