The Workplace Relations Commission awarded supervisor Olivia Quinn €21,000 after finding that Grosvenor Cleaning Services Limited penalised her for raising concerns about the treatment of cleaning staff during the pandemic. The decision, dated 14 February 2022, said Quinn was moved from a site where she had worked for nearly 18 years because she made the complaint.
Grosvenor said its client had requested Quinn’s transfer under a contract clause. The adjudication officer found that the transfer arose solely from Quinn’s complaint and that her employer should have challenged the request. The site she was moved to closed under lockdown rules, causing financial loss.
