The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Poundland Limited T/A Dealz to pay former duty manager Deborah Dalle Crode €2,153.85 gross in cesser pay and €2,000 redress for unpaid annual leave. The decision was dated 6 September 2023.
The WRC also directed Dealz to pay €860.28 for minimum notice. The company had conceded that €861.54 gross was owed, but the adjudication officer directed the lower amount. Both complaints were well founded.
Four other complaints were withdrawn. Dalle Crode’s unfair dismissal complaint was dismissed as not well founded. She had been absent for more than a year, and the officer found Dealz held regular welfare and capability meetings and made efforts to support her return. The officer accepted incapacity as the substantial ground for dismissal and found Dalle Crode had notice and an opportunity to respond.
