The Workplace Relations Commission found an art teacher’s complaint against Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education Training Board was not well founded. Sarah Adam said she was not returned to her role after maternity leave and raised concerns about a missing risk assessment and assignment to yard duty. The decision, dated 2 December 2022, said the Maternity Protection Act’s return-to-work provision did not apply because Adam’s maternity leave had ended in June 2020, before her employment ended. It also found that the risk assessment and yard-duty issues fell under workplace safety regulations, not the Maternity Protection Act.
