WRC rejects Kathleen Cafferky’s claim for wages under relief contract

The Workplace Relations Commission found Kathleen Cafferky’s complaint against Ability West CLG under the Payment of Wages Act was not well-founded. The decision was dated 24 October 2022. Cafferky said she was available for 35 hours a week from 8 April to 30 June 2020 and claimed wages at €12.54 an hour. The WRC found her relief contract provided payment only for hours worked, and she had not worked any shifts because her services were not required. It concluded no wages accrued during the period.
