WRC finds Hugh Hourican’s redundancy complaint not well founded

The Workplace Relations Commission found Hugh Hourican’s redundancy complaint against Peter Mulligan Contractors Ltd was not well founded. The decision was dated 24 January 2023. Hourican said he was told to go home after working as a carpenter for the company from 1991, and sought redundancy entitlements. He was out of work for one week before returning to work with another entity in February 2019. The WRC found that his employment had not ended by reason of redundancy because he returned to continuous employment with the new employer.
