The Workplace Relations Commission found a National Parks and Wildlife Service conservation ranger’s complaint about written notice of a change to his employment terms was not well founded. The decision was dated 7 October 2024. Mark Byrne said his work changed from field duties to working from home without prior notice. The Department of Culture Heritage Gaelteacht/National Parks and Wildlife Service relied on legal submissions and gave no evidence. The adjudicator found Byrne received written notice on the day the change took effect, meeting the law’s timing requirement. Three other complaints, under information and consultation, workplace safety and criminal justice laws, were withdrawn. No award was recorded. The decision did not determine whether changing Byrne’s work to home-based duties was fair.
