The Workplace Relations Commission upheld a chef’s wages and working-time complaints against a food business, requiring it to pay €1,921 compensation under the Payment of Wages Act. The decision was dated 3 May 2017. The chef said he had been paid sporadically and was owed €1,921 in wages and €238.08 for holiday pay. The food business did not attend the hearing. On the uncontested evidence, the adjudication officer also required payment of €238.08 for monetary loss and €250 compensation for the working-time breach.
