The WRC awarded a worker €11,440 after finding he was unfairly dismissed under a mandatory retirement policy he did not know about. Adjudication Officer Ray Flaherty dated the decision 19 April 2017.
The meat processing plant did not attend the hearing, and the officer relied on the worker’s uncontested evidence. The award covered lost earnings to the end of June 2016, when the business closed and its staff were made redundant. The officer also found that the worker should receive the appropriate redundancy payment.
