A hotel ordered to pay accounts manager €6,440 for eight weeks’ notice

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission upheld an accounts manager’s minimum-notice complaint against a hotel and ordered it to pay €6,440 for eight weeks’ notice. The decision was dated 18 April 2017. She said her employment ended by redundancy without notice. The hotel did not attend the hearing and disputed by email that it was her employer. The adjudicator found the hotel was the employer, citing an agreement, Revenue information and a redundancy payment it had made. Her alternative Payment of Wages Act complaint was rejected because her minimum-notice complaint had succeeded.
