In 2004, the Labour Court upheld a recommendation that a worker at Mayo County Council accept a rota of three drivers for low-loader duties. The worker’s appeal failed. The decision was dated 17 December 2004. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the worker had been the sole low-loader driver for six years and should have first option on the work. Mayo County Council said he continued to drive the tractor unit and that it needed to allocate low-loader duties among several workers.
