Unnamed co-accused jailed for serious harm to teenager

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The unnamed co-accused was sentenced to eight years in prison, with the final two-and-a-half years suspended, at the Central Criminal Court on 6 November 2023.

The sentence concerned intentionally causing serious harm to a teenager at Tymon Lane, Tallaght, on 2 January 2021; the judge backdated it to 28 January 2022.

The judge said the defendant was just under 18 at the time of the offence and reduced the headline term to 11 years to reflect his youth. A one-quarter discount for guilty pleas brought the term to eight years.

The final two-and-a-half years were suspended, leaving five-and-a-half years to serve. The judge warned that trouble during the suspended period could result in the suspended term being imposed.
