Rory Carr and Bruno Tache were each sentenced to three years and six months in prison at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, with the final six months suspended. The sentencing was reported on 10 March 2026.
Carr pleaded guilty to three counts of assault causing harm to Quham Babatunde, Adetola Adetuilehim and a third man. Tache pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to Babatunde and another man, and to violent disorder.
The violence followed an event at Club 22 on South Anne Street in the early hours of 15 February 2025. Babatunde, 34, died after being stabbed. Prosecutor John Berry SC told the court that his death was not caused by an assault perpetrated by any of the accused men in this case. Another man is charged with his murder and is before the courts in Northern Ireland.
After Babatunde was stabbed, Carr punched him eight times, although not all the blows connected. Carr had acted as a peacemaker earlier. Tache kicked Babatunde in the head while he was lying dead on the ground. Neither man was involved in the fatal stabbing. Carr told gardaí he did not know anyone had been stabbed and had not seen a knife.
Judge Orla Crowe said both men had significant previous convictions and were on bail at the time; both were also serving suspended sentences for other offences. She suspended the final six months of each sentence in light of their relatively young ages and to encourage rehabilitation.
David Oloo Omee pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to Adetuilehim and to violent disorder. Sean Forde pleaded guilty to affray. Judge Crowe directed probation reports for both men and remanded them on continuing bail to 21 April 2026.
