Seán Ducque has pleaded not guilty to murdering Kieran Farrelly at Killarney Court, Killarney Street, Dublin, on 26 October 2014. The proceedings at the Central Criminal Court were reported on 22 June 2017.
As the trial opened, his barrister Hugh O’Keeffe SC said Ducque admitted firing two shotgun shots that killed Farrelly. The shotgun was later found on Mabbot Lane.
Ducque’s former partner, Laura Dempsey, told the court that Farrelly pleaded with him after the first shot. She said she had thought Farrelly was going to get a hiding and did not know there was a gun there.
The trial was expected to last two weeks. Dempsey was due to continue her evidence that afternoon before Mr Justice Paul Butler and a jury.
