Roy Norman Kenyon ordered surrendered over murder sentence

By Orla Quinn

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Roy Norman Kenyon was ordered surrendered by the High Court to serve a life sentence for murder on 3 May 2019. The judgment concerned a European arrest warrant issued by the United Kingdom and his objections to being returned there. Kenyon was a juvenile when convicted of murdering a 74-year-old woman in her home.

Ms Justice Donnelly rejected his objections, finding this was not an exceptional case where returning him to serve the sentence would be egregious. The court ordered his surrender under the European Arrest Warrant Act 2003. The judgment records that Kenyon had absconded while on temporary release and later lived in Ireland under an assumed name.
