Keith Lennon lost his appeal against his nine-year manslaughter sentence at the Court of Appeal on 1 April 2022. The proceedings were reported on 1 April 2022.
Lennon pleaded guilty to three counts of manslaughter at Dundalk Circuit Criminal Court. In February 2021, Judge Marina Baxter sentenced him to nine years in prison and banned him from driving for 20 years.
The collision occurred at Carrickarnon, Ravensdale, Dundalk, Co Louth, on 29 February 2020. Lennon was driving at 225km/h and making Snapchat videos when his Audi struck another car, killing Mary Faxton, Kevin Faxton and Bryan Magill. Mr Magill was a passenger in Lennon’s car.
Dismissing the appeal, Mr Justice George Birmingham said a substantial custodial sentence was inevitable. He said the Snapchat videos Lennon made while driving at excessive speeds set the case apart.
