€1.6 million Worth of Cannabis Seized in Joint Agency Task Force Operation (An Garda Síochána and Police Service of Northern Ireland) 26th August 2026

On 26 August 2026, a joint operation involving An Garda Síochána, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), and the Revenue Customs Service resulted in the seizure of 119 kg of cannabis valued at €1.666 million in the Dundalk area of Co. Louth. A male in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and is being detained for questioning. Follow-up searches in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, led to the seizure of an additional 45 kg of cannabis, ½ kg of cocaine, 22 imitation firearms, and approximately £25,000 in cash. A male in his 30s was also arrested and is being detained by the PSNI. This is a seizure.
