By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Marek Puska and Lubomir Puska Jr were convicted in the Central Criminal Court of withholding information knowing it might be of material assistance in securing their brother Jozef Puska’s prosecution. Jozefina Grundzova and Viera Gaziova were found guilty of burning Jozef Puska’s clothes, intending to impede his arrest or prosecution.

The four had pleaded not guilty. The report said the men’s defence lawyers argued they were worried about incriminating themselves, while the court was told the women could not have known or believed, when they burned the clothes, that Jozef Puska had murdered Ashling Murphy.

The proceedings were reported on 17 June 2025. The four were remanded on continuing bail, and the case was due to be mentioned on 7 July to fix a sentence date. Ms Justice Caroline Biggs heard sentencing evidence on 7 October 2025 and was due to hear victim impact evidence before imposing sentences on 22 October. No sentence had yet been imposed in the reports, although the judge said there was a very real risk of custody for each accused.
