Edward McGrath and Sharif Kelly’s murder retrial was allowed to proceed with anonymous Garda evidence at the Special Criminal Court, reported on 17 January 2017.

The court ruled that 11 National Surveillance Unit members could give evidence under initials, with the public excluded while they testified. McGrath and Kelly had pleaded not guilty to murdering Peter Butterly, who was shot at the Huntsman Inn car park in Gormanston, County Meath, on 6 March 2013.
