Edward McGrath and Sharif Kelly were found guilty of murdering Peter Butterly at the Special Criminal Court, reported on 9 March 2017. Butterly was shot dead outside The Huntsman Inn in Gormanston, Co Meath, on 6 March 2013.

The court found that Dean Evans shot Butterly, while McGrath drove him to and from the scene. McGrath and Kelly had denied the murder during their second trial, after the first trial collapsed in January 2015.

McGrath and Kelly were remanded in custody until 7 April for sentencing.
