Edward McGrath's appeal against his murder conviction was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 31 March 2022.
McGrath and Sharif Kelly were convicted in the Special Criminal Court on 9 March 2017 after a trial concerning Peter Butterly's fatal shooting at the Huntsman Inn, County Meath, on 6 March 2013.
McGrath was also convicted of firearms and ammunition offences, while the appeals challenged evidence, disclosure, the conduct of the trial and the safety of the verdicts.
The Court of Appeal rejected the arguments that the trial was unsafe or conducted unlawfully, and dismissed both appeals.
