Labour Court rejects Adrian Doroghi’s appeal over Payment of Wages complaint

The Labour Court rejected Adrian Doroghi’s appeal on 25 February 2025, upholding the decision that his complaint under the Payment of Wages Act 1991 was brought against the wrong respondent. The Court did not hear the substantive wage claim. Doroghi argued that Synergy Security Solutions Limited remained liable for alleged breaches raised before his employment transferred on 1 March 2023, and that he had not received information about the transfer’s economic implications. Synergy said the complaint should have been made against the new employer. The Court found the relevant obligations had passed to the transferee, so Doroghi could not proceed against his former employer.
