The Labour Court found a worker’s claims for an established pay scale, annual increments, a remuneration review and compensation not well founded, and did not recommend that they be conceded. The recommendation was signed on 13 January 2026. The worker, represented by the Irish Federation of University Teachers, had held research roles at The College Of The Holy And Undivided Trinity Of Queen Elizabeth Near Dublin. University Of Dublin, Trinity College since 2003. The worker submitted that he had been told he would receive the Associate Professor pay scale. The university said he held no substantive academic post, his honorary title was not linked to a pay scale and his salary exceeded the recommended scales. The Court found the title honorary and said the route to annual increments was to successfully apply for a substantive academic post linked to an incremental scale.
