Labour Court rejects Unite claim for seniority rules on Haleon department transfers

By Gráinne Nolan

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Labour Court did not recommend that Haleon concede a claim by workers represented by Unite the Union for seniority rules to apply when members were moved between departments. The recommendation was signed on 22 October 2025. The union sought an addendum to an existing protocol. Haleon said transfers should be based on workers’ skills and that it had not agreed to the addendum. The Court said discussions had taken place but there was no evidence they had reached a conclusion, and left the parties free to continue them.
