The Labour Court recommended that Tesco Ireland and Mandate & Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree a 12-month deal with a 2.5% pay increase from 1 April 2021, covering all union members, including staff recruited before 1996/1997. The recommendation was dated 27 May 2022. The union had sought a 10% rise for 12 months, outstanding increases for earlier recruits and changes to starting rates. Tesco proposed staged increases over three years, including a new probationary rate. The Court noted substantial differences between the parties and recommended renewed talks on pay and related matters for a further agreement from 1 April 2022 or another date agreed by the parties.
