The Labour Court recommended a 2% pay rise backdated to 1 July 2020 for general operatives at Flextronics International Ireland Limited, along with a €1,000 long-service payment for workers reaching 35 years’ service. The recommendation was signed on 23 December 2020. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought a 4% increase for 87 workers, improvements to compassionate leave and a €1,500 long-service payment, as well as VHI cover and six weeks’ sick pay. Flextronics cited pandemic-related cost controls and pressure on its Cork operation. The Court also recommended excluding annual leave and rostered days off from compassionate leave periods. It did not accept that the VHI and sick-pay claims were properly before it.
