The Labour Court recommended that E.F.G. Zest pay a worker €5,000 after finding that conflicting employment contracts created serious confusion about his status and undermined the procedures used to end his employment. The recommendation was signed on 10 April 2017. The worker said he had a permanent contract and believed his job was safe after the business transferred. E.F.G. Zest maintained that he was on a fixed-term contract that expired during a downturn in business. The Court said the employer was responsible for ensuring employees had clear, unambiguous terms. It recommended the €5,000 payment in full and final settlement of the dispute.
