The Labour Court recommended that Nutricia Infant Nutrition Limited and the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union resume local discussions over pay parity for nine craft workers at the company’s Macroom facility. The recommendation was signed on 29 November 2016. The union sought a 23% pay increase from 1 January 2015 to match rates at the company’s Wexford facility, along with a retrospective adjustment for eligible workers. The company said it had offered a 23% increase, while the union rejected a mediator’s four-year proposal in October 2016. The Court said the sides had made considerable progress and recommended they try to reach a settlement by 31 January 2017. If they had not resolved the dispute by then, the Court said it would issue a substantive recommendation.
