The Labour Court recommended that changes proposed by Mondelez Ireland Limited and Mima Staff Association to the company’s private medical insurance scheme be processed at the same time for all affected groups. The recommendation was signed on 19 December 2014. The company proposed changes to cut costs it said had become financially unsustainable. Mima Staff Association, which represented about 200 members, put forward an alternative scheme that the company rejected. The association said the loss of retirement cover would affect employees’ expectations, while the company said lifelong cover for retirees and spouses was unaffordable. The Court did not comment on either side’s case.
